Education
The Intermountain Injury Control Research Center is highly
supportive of public health and injury prevention education in the state of Utah. For years, the IICRC has worked in close collaboration with the Department of Family and
Preventive Medicine (FPMD) at the University of Utah, which houses an
accredited MPH and MSPH program that admits approximately 40-50 students per
year. Several Center faculty (Dr. Dean, Vernon, Mann,
and Ms. Olson) are faculty in the MPH/MSPH program and have had years of experience in teaching
public health and medical education courses.
Getting Involved in Injury
Control
Many students in the MPH and MSPH programs have had the opportunity to do
internships, fellowships, and special projects with the IICRC to supplement
their education. If you are interested in studying injury control in the
public health arena, feel free to contact us anytime for more information about
opportunities available with the IICRC. To be considered for these
opportunities, please fill out the following form:

MPH
with Emphasis in Injury Control
The FPMD offers an MPH degree with an emphasis in injury
control. This program requires two semesters of
study and includes the opportunity for a practicum. The
IICRC provides a rich resource for this area of emphasis. Inquiries should be directed to Lenora
Olson, the Center Director.
